Patrick Mahomes has beaten Tom Brady.
Unlike their recent Super Bowl matchup when Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat Mahomes and the Chiefs, Mahomes has overtaken Brady in one thing: most valuable rookie card.
PWCC, one of the biggest sports trading cards and collectibles marketplaces in the world, announced that a 2017 National Treasures Platinum Patrick Mahomes rookie card with an NFL jersey patch sold at auction for $ 4.3 million. The transaction is the highest ever for a football card.

Mahomes saw the news and reacted to the sale on Twitter TWTR, +2.82%.
The previous highest ever sale for an NFL card was $ 3.1 million for a 2000 Tom Brady rookie autograph card, in March 2020.
The Mahomes rookie card is graded 8.5 from Beckett Grading Services, a strong overall grade. Collectors send their sports cards to get graded for quality, centering and overall condition — so the 8.5 rating on this card is high, while a near perfect card would be a 10 out of 10.
