OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will not be receiving any further updates after Android O, the Head of Product for the company said in a forum.

However, the Chinese mobile manufacturer will continue to release the security patches for the phone.

“Android O is going to be the last Android version update we’ll release for OP3/3T. We’ll continue to release security patch updates for the foreseeable future, and offer support for individual application updates,” said Oliver Z, the Head of Product for OnePlus.

The news may come hard on buyers of the phone given that these two models are not very old—OnePlus 3 is just over a year old and OnePlus 3T has just completed nine months of its release.

However, there is no word on when these two phones will be getting the Android O update.

Android O is the upcoming version of Android Operating Systems and is expected to be rolled out later this year. It has improved “vitals” like battery life and security. The OS will offer picture-in-picture feature that allows users to perform two tasks simultaneously on a single screen.

The company will also stop the Open Beta Program for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users. The program will only be used exclusively for OnePlus 5—the premium phone released in June.

Open Beta Program is where users can join in to test and review the software before their final release.  Companies use such program to test if a software contains any bug or glitch.
