RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — Saudi Arabia’s state-run oil giant says it has inaugurated a natural gas network to supply factories in the light industrial area in the Red Sea city of Yanbu with 15 million cubic feet of natural gas daily.

Saudi Aramco said Sunday the capacity of the nine-kilometer network could be increased to 55 million cubic feet per day.

It said the new fuel supply would help reduce pollution and production costs.

Saudi Aramco said earlier that its production of non-associated natural gas had increased to represent 60 present of the kingdom’s production, which reached 9.7 billion cubic feet per day last year.
